BTEC Students Explore Sports Therapy at City College
Our double Level 3 BTEC Sport students recently visited City College for an immersive experience in the field of sports therapy. The visit offered valuable insights into the five stages of rehabilitation, showcasing the processes used to help injured athletes recover and return to peak performance.
The students took part in a variety of hands-on activities, including on-field assessments, shockwave therapy, bandaging techniques, and a range of movement exercises. These tasks introduced them to essential skills and methods commonly applied in real-world sports therapy.
The visit continued in the strength and conditioning suite, where students explored advanced tests designed to track an athlete’s recovery progress. They completed a force plate jump test and a reaction time assessment under fatigue, simulating the challenging conditions athletes often face during their rehabilitation.
This experience has prepared the students to apply their skills to designing effective rehabilitation programs. The practical knowledge gained will not only enhance their coursework but also provide a strong foundation for future careers in the sports and fitness industry.
