Inspiring Talk by Chiropractor Dr. Jonathan Clarke

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Jonathan M. Clarke, a chiropractor, who delivered an inspiring and engaging talk to students in Years 9 through 12.

Dr. Clarke introduced the students to the world of chiropractic care, explaining how it focusses on the neuromusculoskeletal system, including bones, nerves, muscles, and tendons. He talked about how gentle adjustments to the spine can relieve pain and improve overall health.

One of the key takeaways from his talk was the importance of taking responsibility for our own health—both body and mind. Jon started by asking if anyone has had a headache, migraines, a sore neck, period pains, knee pain or neck pain and explained how chiropractic care can help with these issues. The students were even amazed to learn that Dr. Clarke’s youngest patient was just 3.5 hours old, while his oldest was 102 years old!

During the Q&A, Year 10 student Grace asked "Where is the worst place you have had to treat a patient?”. Dr. Clarke's humorous response sparked laughter and some wincing from the audience as he humorously described the experience. Emma said, “He was so funny, I loved listening to him. It felt like he was telling a story.”

Dr. Clarke also discussed how the body heals itself and emphasised that chiropractic care works alongside other treatments like physiotherapy and GP support. He also shared information about the Scotland College of Chiropractic (SCC), where a new professional degree is offered to train future chiropractors.

Amaya said "He totally understood our age range and made his talk interactive and engaging. He had such a great style.” The Year 12 students were particularly impressed, with one remarking, "That was the best speaker ever!"

At the end of the talk, Dr. Clarke generously gifted 60 students a copy of his book, The Happiness of Health: 6 Simple, Practical Ways to Improve Your Health and Happiness. If you’d like a copy, you can get one from the Saltash Chiropractic Clinic or on Amazon.

A huge thank you to Dr. Clarke for his time and for inspiring our students!
