Celebrating Achievements at Scott College
Today, at Scott College, we celebrated our remarkable students and their exceptional achievements over the past year as part of the Futures Curriculum.
The Futures Curriculum is designed to give students an invaluable opportunity to explore potential careers in the medical and healthcare fields. It includes daily 20-minute sessions covering various aspects of health and medical ethics, hands-on workshops, and inspiring talks by professionals from different industries.
In addition, the Futures curriculum allows students to earn recognition for their hard work and dedication. They can earn certificates and badges by participating in different activities such as, being creative, completing first aid training, exploring medical careers and topics, playing sports, joining diversity activities, taking on challenges like DofE, participating in college events, being involved in charity work, taking part in projects such as the Step into the NHS project, or setting personal goals for themselves to achieve.
Many students have earned Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards for their exceptional work. This year’s standout Gold recipients include:
Logan has received multiple Bronze and Silver awards, as well as a prestigious Gold award for his community work with DofE. He has actively participated in serving and cleaning at the Masonic Community Building, embraced adventurous activities on Dartmoor such as walking, camping, and cooking his own food, and contributed to the Diversity Group by creating a display celebrating diversity and acceptance amongst all students.
Casey, another Gold award recipient, has significantly built her confidence throughout the year. She has pushed herself to improve and participate more actively, excelling in her DofE and teamwork skills. Casey’s dedication and effort in all she does are truly commendable.
Erin, a shining example of selflessness, received her Gold award for her charity work outside of school. She walked 260 miles to raise over £1,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund. Additionally, Erin was one of 100 cadets who participated in a 16-hour drill marathon in Exeter, raising £1,686 for Children’s Hospice South West and ACCT UK. She also helped hand out water bottles during the Plymouth Half Marathon.
As we celebrate these achievements, we eagerly anticipate the new academic year and the continued success of all our students. The Scott College community takes immense pride in the compassion, determination, and generosity these young individuals have demonstrated. Their efforts remind us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a profound impact on our world.
Congratulations to all our exceptional students – you are the true stars of Scott College!
