DofE Students complete challenging Silver/Gold Expedition
Eight teams, comprising four gold and four silver groups, recently completed their challenging Duke of Edinburgh expedition across Dartmoor.
Despite the steep hills, the teams showcased impressive navigation skills and were fortunate to enjoy mostly dry conditions, with only a 1% chance of rain!
The expedition was divided into three days of rigorous trekking. Day 1 saw the teams setting off from Tavistock to Princetown, followed by a journey from Princetown to Cockington Ford on Day 2, and concluding with a final leg from Cockington Ford to Buckfast Abbey on Day 3.
The silver teams demonstrated significant growth by applying feedback from their practice sessions to their qualifying expedition. Their determination shone through as they completed the journey in high spirits, showcasing their resilience and adaptability.
Meanwhile, the gold teams used their practice expedition to gain valuable insights, providing them with ample reflection as they prepare for their qualifying expeditions in July and September.
The highlight of the expedition was the friendship and teamwork shared around the campfire, with all enjoying roasting marshmallows and forming bonds that would last beyond the journey.
Well done to all our amazing students!
