Year 12 students visit the new medical facility at UoP

SMHC Year 12 students were treated to an enriching experience as they embarked on a bespoke day at the University of Plymouth campus.

Led by Plymouth University ambassadors, the students were guided through the main campus, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and getting a taste of university life. However, the highlight of the day came with an insightful talk from Francis Thompson, Associate Professor in Mental Health Nursing. Professor Thompson's engaging discussion shed light on what students can expect from university life and the diverse array of courses offered within the esteemed Faculty of Health.

Following the enlightening talk, students were ushered into the brand-new Intercity Place, the Faculty of Health's cutting-edge premises. Here, they were treated to a first hand glimpse of state-of-the-art facilities, including a virtual dissection and visualisation system for anatomy teaching, clinical practice suites, and clinical skills wards, amongst other remarkable resources. The tour provided students with invaluable insights into the modern landscape of healthcare education, showcasing the innovative tools and environments they could potentially explore in their academic pursuits.

As the day came to a close, students departed with a sense of excitement and inspiration, fuelled by the possibilities that lie ahead. The tour not only broadened their horizons but also reaffirmed their passion for pursuing careers in the health sector.
