Exeter Cathedral History Trip June 2021

We had the great fortune of taking our first socially distanced history trip to Exeter Cathedral in June.

The trip involved a guided tour around the Cathedral and workshops where students were able to see a number of primary sources of medical texts from all periods of history. They were also able to see some fantastic sources on medieval pilgrimage and some of the oldest Anglo-Saxon sources in the country. This was a great opportunity for students to deepen and broaden their historical understanding of various time periods and provided excellent contextual knowledge for their GCSE papers. Members of the public commented on how well behaved our students were and the students were particularly enamoured with a first hand celebrity encounter, as it so happened that the BBC were also in the building. In short, it was a fantastic day that helped solidify their academic learning with real life engagement with the past.
