The celebrations featured a powerful performance of a short play titled 'Many Rivers to Cross', which took audiences on a journey through the history of the Windrush generation right up to the present day. The production was written and directed by KS4 Lead Miss Honeyghan, and brought to life by producer Angie Darker and Technical Lead Maris O'Donnell from the EAL department. 

Speaking about the impact of the performance, Ava said;

Being part of the play was an incredible experience. It wasn’t just about acting; it felt like we were giving a voice to a generation that gave so much to this country."

To conclude the project, students had the unforgettable opportunity to meet Mr and Mrs Walters, who  shared their story. Having arrived from Jamaica just three years after the initial Windrush voyage, they shared first-hand accounts of the very same historic experiences the students had been researching. This year marks a remarkable milestone for Mrs Walters, who came to England at the age of 23 and is celebrating 70 years in the UK.
