Year 12 Students Complete Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification

Year 12 students at Scott Medical and Healthcare College have successfully completed their Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification, gaining essential life-saving skills that will benefit them in the workplace, at university, and beyond.
The comprehensive course covered a wide range of important topics, including the responsibilities of a first aider, dealing with an unresponsive but breathing casualty, carrying out a top-to-toe survey and placing someone in the recovery position, responding to an unresponsive and not breathing casualty with CPR, handling choking incidents, treating bleeding and applying bandages and slings, and managing situations involving shock, fainting, nosebleeds, seizures, and burns.
Students were fully engaged throughout the course, contributing their own experiences, asking and answering questions, and taking part in practical exercises to reinforce their learning. One student said, “We really enjoyed the course and loved being able to practice CPR on both adult mannequins and a baby. It made the learning so hands-on and realistic.”
By the end of the programme, all Year 12 students left Scott Medical College with an official Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, a nationally recognised certification that will enhance their CVs, university applications, and employability skills.
This achievement reflects both the dedication of our students and the College’s commitment to providing opportunities that equip young people with practical skills for life.
