Students take on 100ft abseil to raise money for Borneo trip
Feel the fear - and do it anyway! That is what eight of our plucky students did when they took on the ‘Dartmoor Drop’ - a 100ft abseil down Meldon Viaduct near Okehampton.
The students at SMHC took part in a fundraising campaign to raise money for the victims of war in Ukraine and their Year 11 Prom. Students took part in a Sports challenge as well as organising a bake sale.
On Saturday Cameron in Year 9 set off with his Cadet Team to take on the 60th Ten Tors Event. Cameron and his team walked a challenging 35 mile route across Dartmoor.
Volunteering superstar sophie captured at big event
One of our Year 11 students, Sophie, who is an avid cadet with St John Ambulance, recently volunteered to do duty at the Pirate Weekend on the Barbican.
A group of our students will be heading off on a school trip of a lifetime in 2023 - a two-week expedition to Borneo where they’ll have the chance to see orangutans in the wild and dive in waters renowned for their rich sea life.
Danny travelled up to Stoke-on-Trent to compete in the British School Gymnastic Nationals for Tumbling. He was "Buzzing for the first big event since Covid" as the latest regionals have been recorded and sent in virtually.
Congratulations to our Year 9 student Megan Murphy, who has been elected as a Deputy Member of the Youth Parliament (MYP) for Devon for the next two years.
