Celebrating Success: Scott College Hosts Inspiring Awards Evening

Pride, excitement, and a deep sense of achievement filled the air as Scott College hosted its annual Awards Ceremony. Centred around the theme “Moments that matter,” the evening celebrated the dedication, growth, and unique accomplishments of our exceptional students.

Through powerful student reflections and moving speeches, the night highlighted how our school community helps young people find their voices, build resilience, and thrive.

Amelie: Seeing the World in Colour

For Amelie, studying literature transformed English from an exam requirement into a vital lesson in human empathy.

"English enables you to see the world in colour. Reading A Christmas Carol became a massive turning point... It made me realise that poverty isn't an abstract number on the news—it's a deeply human struggle. It showed me how easily people can be overlooked, and how important it is to look at the world with more empathy and compassion."

Ava: Finding Belonging in the Unexpected

Moving across the country from Yorkshire before starting Year 9 was a terrifying transition for Ava, leaving behind everything she knew.

"I remember sitting in the car before my first day and just crying because of how scared I was. Slowly though, this scary place became familiar. I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned this year is you don’t have to have lived in a place for years to belong. Sometimes the moments that matter are the unexpected, scary ones that end up becoming the memories we’re most grateful for."

Olivia: The Resilience of the Dance Journey

Olivia's elite dance journey has taken her to the Royal Ballet Associates and training in Hong Kong. After bravely stepping away from dance for an entire year, she rediscovered her passion and has accepted a place at the London Contemporary Dance School.

"Sometimes you have to lose something before you realise just how much it means to you. Dance has taught me resilience in ways that few other experiences could. Speaking on stage today is an achievement in itself—I've realised there's a difference between boasting and being proud of how far you've come."

Sheren: Defining Bravery in a New Country

Relocating to the UK from Indonesia meant navigating an entirely new language, culture, and school system for Sheren, alongside a profound fear of making mistakes.

"English is not my first language, so communication was difficult. Fear made me want to stay quiet, but I realised if I never tried, I would never improve. This experience showed me an important lesson: Being brave does not mean that you are not afraid. Being brave means taking action even when you are afraid."

Behind the scenes, none of this would be possible without our tireless staff, who ensure every student feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Awards Evening proved what is possible when young people are encouraged to believe in themselves and chase their dreams with confidence.

We are immensely proud of all our award winners!
