DofE Silver Qualifying Expedition Success

Year 10 students successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award Qualifying Expedition, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination throughout one of the hottest Mays on record.

The expedition took students from Princetown across Dartmoor to Buckfast Abbey. Along the way, a few navigational detours added an extra challenge and kept staff on their toes, but every group rose to the occasion with enthusiasm and positivity.

Across the two-day expedition, students worked exceptionally well within their teams, supporting one another through challenging terrain and warm conditions. While some groups embraced the experience as a friendly competition, others focused on personal achievement and enjoying the spectacular scenery that Devon has to offer.

All five groups successfully completed the expedition on Saturday, returning with a sense of accomplishment, a few blisters and plenty of stories to tell.

Katie reflected on the experience, saying:

"The heat made it tough at times, but everyone kept encouraging each other and that really helped us keep going. Doing the practice expedition a few weeks earlier was a huge help because we knew what to expect and understood how important team morale is when things get difficult. We learnt how to support each other, keep positive and work together, and that made a big difference during the qualifying expedition. Reaching the finish felt amazing, and I'm really proud of what we achieved together."

Congratulations to all students involved. The teamwork, resilience and positive attitude shown throughout the expedition were outstanding and everyone should be extremely proud of their achievement.
