Stoke Students Generate Community Impact Through DofE Volunteering

Students at Scott College have proven that community spirit is alive and well, clocking up an incredible number of volunteering hours as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award.

DofE participants from Scott have dedicated their spare time to a diverse range of causes. Whether bracing the elements to clean up the environment or giving up weekends to coach young people, our students have truly gone above and beyond.

The sheer variety of volunteering projects undertaken by Stoke students highlights their versatility and commitment. From hands-on charity work to youth leadership, the impact of their dedication has been felt across multiple sectors:

  • Support & Care: Students rolled up their sleeves at local soup kitchens and charity shops, while others provided vital companionship and practical help to elderly neighbours.

  • Education & Environment: Academic and green initiatives thrived, with pupils helping out in primary volunteering, STEM clubs, libraries, and organising litter-picking drives to keep local spaces clean.

  • Community & Animals: From marshalling at the weekly Park Run and assisting with church groups and cadets volunteering, to showing compassion through animal care, no stone was left unturned.

The Power of Numbers: 988 Hours of Dedication

The dedication of Scott students is inspiring, contributing 988 volunteering hours! This massive contribution injected an astounding £7,458 of social value into the local area.

"A massive well done to every single student involved. We are incredibly proud of all our DofE participants. They haven't just achieved a personal milestone; they have genuinely changed our community for the better." — Miss Haley, DofE Manager

The grit, empathy, and leadership shown by these young people embody everything the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award stands for.

Congratulations to all of DofE students for this phenomenal achievement!
