Aiming High: Cambridge University Visit Inspires Students

Students in Year 10 and Year 12 recently took part in an inspiring session led by Anais Pettecrew, School Liaison Officer from Downing College, Cambridge University.

Anais delivered an engaging presentation about studying at University of Cambridge, covering topics such as the application and interview process, Higher Education funding, and the range of bursaries and scholarships available to students. She also highlighted the potential career benefits of attending a highly competitive university and encouraged students to consider ambitious academic pathways.

The sessions were highly interactive. Students explored example Cambridge-style interview questions – including the thought-provoking “Why don’t animals have wheels?” – and took part in a lively round of “Rebuttal Tennis”, where they debated challenging topics and practised thinking on their feet while developing strong arguments.

The visit provided a fascinating insight into university life and helped students build confidence in their ability to aim high and recognise their potential.

A huge thank you to the team from Downing College, Cambridge University, and especially to Anais, for delivering such an engaging and thought-provoking session.
