Year 12 Learn to Budget with Young Enterprise

Our Year 12 students recently took part in an inspiring session with Young Enterprise, exploring key themes including personal skills, career choices, salaries, cost of living, and budgeting.

The session gave students a clear understanding of the routes into different job sectors and encouraged them to think about careers that are both engaging and rewarding.

The engagement and enthusiasm in the room were fantastic, with students actively reflecting on their futures and building confidence in the steps ahead. Tim Jones from Startpoint Finance, a Young Enterprise volunteer, commented:

“The YE session with year 12 students was amazing. The maturity shown by the young adults was inspirational and gives me great hope for the future of Plymouth. The school should be proud of this group and I wish them the best of luck in their careers.”

Students shared their own reflections on the session.

Joshua said, “This programme helped me to understand the fundamentals of the skill set required for my future employment.” Sophie added, “The session was a helpful insight into maintaining realistic goals for the future and how to prepare for the necessary circumstances.” Luke also reflected positively, saying, “I found this insightful and eye opening.”

Many students commented on how the interactive elements helped them understand budgeting, financial planning, and how to make realistic choices about their careers. Several noted that the session had helped them picture what they want their futures to look like, while others highlighted the value of practical advice on planning and achieving goals.

Sessions like this not only equip students with essential skills but also inspire them to make informed choices about their careers and personal development.
