Students Shine in Spectacular Production of High School Musical Jr.

After months of hard work and dedication, our students took to the stage this week to perform High School Musical Jr., delivering a truly spectacular show. From singing and dancing to acting, the performances showcased the talent, commitment, and creativity of everyone involved.

The production tells the story of East High on the first day after winter break, where the Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians, and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. Their decision to audition for the high school musical causes an upheaval among students resistant to change — but Troy and Gabriella’s alliance opens the door for others to shine too.

The show was the result of countless hours of rehearsal and preparation. Many of our Sixth Form students worked tirelessly behind the scenes, supporting choreography, publicity, directing, and staging to ensure every aspect ran smoothly. Staff also played a key role, from directing and choreographing to managing sets, costumes, and lighting.

Students shared their excitement: “Being part of the show was an amazing experience — I learned so much and it was incredible to see all our hard work come together on stage.” Another added, “Helping behind the scenes with choreography and staging was challenging, but so rewarding. Seeing the audience enjoy the show made it all worth it!”

Audience members were equally impressed, with one commenting, “The energy and enthusiasm of the students was incredible – you could tell how much effort they’d put in. It was a fantastic performance from start to finish!”

We are incredibly proud of all the students and staff for creating such an amazing theatre experience, and we can’t wait to see what future productions will bring!
