Year 10 Students Celebrate Success in Plymouth University Mentoring Programme

A group of our Year 10 students from across campus recently attended a special Celebration Event at the University of Plymouth, marking the successful completion of a 12-week Mentoring Programme. Designed to motivate and empower, the programme paired students with university mentors to help them explore future academic options, boost self-confidence, and develop valuable life skills.
The visit gave students a first-hand experience of university life. They toured a range of exceptional facilities, offering a glimpse into the academic environment and potential pathways they may pursue. Highlights of the day included a dynamic First Aid workshop and an eye-opening tour of the Coast Lab and Marine Building. Students were especially intrigued by the powerful wave simulation machines and gained a deeper understanding of how coastal engineering impacts the wider world.
The Celebration Ceremony at the end of the visit recognised each student’s achievements, with certificates awarded in honour of their effort, development, and full engagement throughout the programme.
Our students approached the experience with enthusiasm and maturity, showing curiosity, confidence, and a genuine interest in the opportunities presented to them. Feedback from university staff was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting how well they embraced the day. We are incredibly proud of how they represented the school and look forward to seeing how this experience influences their future aspirations.
